I am Rani Ukhengching Marma, ceremonial queen (Rani) of Marma indigenous people of the "Mong Circle (Khagrachari District)" located in the southeastern part of Bangladesh. I have a bachelor of science degree in Public Health Studies from the Asian University of Women, Bangladesh, and participated in the "Indigenous Public Health" certificate course at the University of British Columbia, Canada.
My works focus on improving the lives of marginalized indigenous minorities in Bangladesh, with an emphasis on youth and women empowerment, safeguarding indigenous language and culture, community development, and indigenous health. I am actively engaged in Marma language preservation and interested in digitization to develop Marma as a “sustainable language” to keep the language alive for generations to come.
